Red Fish Charters At Bayou Log Cabins Thirty Five Miles South Of New Orleans: I had the pleasure of fishing with Jim and his wife Cindy today from Houston Texas. They wanted to catch some red fish so we had a day that had some good tides and six mile hour wind out of the southeast. I picked them up from the cabins at safe light about six this morning and headed out to some duck ponds that we been catching some nice red fish at and we went to work. We boxed up some very nice reds and needless to say they had a very good time. Jim was telling me that they don’t have the chance to get out much and how they try to make it down to New Orleans two to three times a year to do some fishing. After today I think Bayou Log Cabins will be on there list of places to stop for a red fish hit from now on. Fishing red fish around this area is just about year around where as the speckled trout is normally good close to the log cabins in the fall. I love taking clients fishing red fish because it is mostly a sight fish in shallow water, normally in duck ponds or shallow pipe line canals is where you will find them this time of the year. One more thing about catching red fish in shallow water is that all the action is on top of the water because they can’t go down because there fighting in two to three feet of water.
