Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Dr. Raleigh and his three sons from Kentucky. I picked them up from the log cabins at five forth five this morning and it was just cracking daylight. We headed south towards Barataria Bay and found the birds working everywhere. This time of the year you can fish the birds and find some nice size trout. We were fishing live shrimp three feet under a popping cork and the bite was on. We must have fished for one and a half hours and had one hundred beautiful speckled trout boxed up and left them biting. It is not often you can box up one hundred trout in less then two hours but this morning was one of them. Being from Kentucky the guys were a little rusty setting the hook and getting the trout over the side of the boat but it didn’t take them long to get the hang of it. Before the day ended they looked like they took lessons from Bill Dance. Once we had a box of trout on ice we headed out to the barrier islands in search for some big bull reds. The water was very clean out there and the reds were hungry. We manage to boat a few of the big bulls and took a bunch of photos for when they got home to show what we do down here in southeast Louisiana. I always say the catching a box of fish is fun however the memories folks build while on a charter fishing trip with us is priceless. That my friend is something that will last for the rest of there life. Louisiana has some of the best speckled trout fishing anywhere in north America hands down. I love taking folks out to see the great fishing we have down here.
