Bayou Log Cabins Speckled Trout Fishing Lodge: Our log cabins are located thirty five miles south of New Orleans Louisiana in the middle of a two hundred year old fishing village. We have four of the most beautiful log cabins for your vacation right on the edge of Lake Hermitage bayou. In each cabin they come with a full kitchen, a queen size bed in the bed room, a full size day bed in the living room, central air & heat, direct TV, swings picnic tables and BB pits under each cabin. Speckled Trout & Red Fish Fishing Charters: We offer day time speckled trout and red fish fishing charters. One of our licenses charter captains will pick you and your group up right in front of your cabin for a day of non stop action. Your charter fishing trip will start off with a twenty five to thirty minuet boat ride out to what we call the barrier islands. This time of the year we like to fish the oyster reefs right on the inside of the islands. You will be fishing in less than eight feet of water and that means most of the action will be close to the top of the water. Our captains are trained to focus on helping everybody on the boat however sometimes we find it important to give a little more help to the person or two who needs it the most. Our objective is by the end of the day is to make sure everyone on the boat has a great time. Each person on the boat is allowed twenty five speckled trout and five red fish. I would have to say that sometimes it is hard for our captains to keep up with folks pulling fish over the side of the boat. You will be fishing with live shrimp this time of the year because Barataria Bay is full of shrimp and that is what the speckled trout is use to eating right now. When your captain gets you back to the cabins at the end of your charter he will then clean the catch of the day, wash all the fish, put them in zip lock bags and ice them down in your ice chest for the ride back home. I always tell folks it is sometime easy to catch a box of fish but the most important action item on one of our charters is that we do our best to bring everyone on the boat to the next level in regards to knowing how to fish and why we do certain things while on the trip.
