SPECKLED TROUT FISHING IN THE FALL: Wow what a great time of the year to fish for speckled trout on the inside. We are catching speckled trout right now 2 miles from the log cabins that range anywhere from 13″ to 20″ on plastic. Just about all the live shrimp are gone and the trout are starting to feast on anything they can find. This is the time of the year that the speckled trout feed directly related to the cool fronts that come through every seven to ten days. When a cool front comes through you want to wait at least two the three days after the cool front and then fish the days leading up to the next cool front. The water will clean up two the three days after the cool front and the speckled trout will start feeding up to the next front. The trout right now are completely finish the spoon and are all on the inside in shallow lakes, duck ponds and pipeline canals. The temperature is great this time of the year, not like July and August when you are sweating by 9:00 in the morning. Also this time of the year we normally have low tides and that makes the speckled trout stack up in the lakes and dead end pipe line canals. Bayou Log Cabins is located only thirty five miles south of New Orleans and has some of the best salt water fishing in southeast Louisiana. We take our clients out in a twenty four foot bay boat and fish with some of the best shamano rod and reels on the market today.
