Fishing At Night Under The Lights Is Great This Time Of The Year: This is the time of the year that the speckle trout began to start showing up under the lights at night right in front of the log cabins. As the live shrimp pass under the lights with a falling tide, the speckle trout gang up under the lights to feed on the shrimp as well as all other bait feed passing under the lights.

Bait of Choice Under The Lights At Night: I have been fishing speckle trout under the lights in the fall of the year for the pass 40 years and have tried many baits. The best bait to use at night is what we call a 1/8 oz. squiggle tail. Some folks call it a curly tail. Many colors will work however I find the best color is white.

The Best Way To Fish For Speckle Trout Under The Lights: Simply take a spinner rod and cast up stream of the light relative to the direction of the tide and slowly retrieve the bait keeping the bait approximately  two feet under the water. The speckle trout will most of the time attack the bait from the bottom coming up to the bait. It is truly a sight to see at night when there is sometime upwards of five hundred speckle trout under the light fighting for there next meal.

Boxes of Speckle Trout Caught Under The Lights: It is great for family’s with women and children because of not having to get up early and go fight the elements of fishing the barrier islands, with high winds and the heat that a summer day can bring on.
