Get The Boat Ready And Let’s Go Catch Some Speckled Trout:Well we are into the first week of March and the small brown shrimp are starting to show up and we all know what that means in regards to the speckled trout. That’s right the speckled trout always follows the food chain and it is time for them to start showing up on the south side of Barataria Bay near the barrier islands. We should all be rapping up with the winter maintenance on all projects including our boats. I will be getting on the water next week to do some scouting and I must say looking forward to catching some speckled trout.
Speckled Trout Spring Season Is Here: It is common for the speckled trout to arrive during the month of March and the egg sacks will start to fill up around the middle of April. The breeding season will normally last until sometime in September before the egg sacks began to dry up. What is so good about the summer speckled trout season is that we normally don’t have many e-regularities in the weather. Sometimes we may have to deal with a little south wind however we are not fighting a stiff north wind due to a cool front.
