This weekend we had all four log cabins filed with families from the New Orleans area. There were kids running around with fishing poles, setting crab nets, throwing cast nets, riding on four wheeler’s and lord only knows how nobody fell in the bayou. The kids were catching some small red fish and black drum of the piers and manage to get enough crabs for a family boil. But the main thing I saw was the fun the kids had simply spending time on the bayou in this old fishing village. The parents had there hands full with running behind them making sure everyone was safe while the kids were focused on having fun on the bayou. The dads manage to break away late in the afternoon to fire up the BB pits and grill some red fish they caught during the morning fishing trips. I can’t believe how much fun the entire families had just spending a weekend at the cabins. You know I say all the time catching a box of speckled trout and red fish is a lot of fun but if you know how to have fun at the camp you really don’t have to catch a box of fish, you can just simply enjoy being on the bayou. We have small boat rentals here at Bayou Log Cabins and the dad’s had them rented all weekend spending time teaching the kids all about water safety and how to have a good time on the water fishing and crabbing. Yes building memories at the camp is truly still the American way for dad’s to bond with there son’s. Even through that was just a weekend out on the bayou for the moms and dads this weekend built memories for those kids that will last a life time. I can promise you that they will remember this weekend for as long as they live and that is what family is all about.
