What can I say about the weather and the time of the year. It is absolutely the best for speckled trout fishing in Lake Hermitage. Folks that have never fished before are renting one of my small boats and putting out to the lake and coming back with limits of speckled trout and red fish. Not everyone who rents the cabins has a boat so we decided to put together a eighteen foot all weld aluminum boat with a four stroke Yamaha electric start for the people who do not own a boat. The trout fishing right now is at it’s best for the fall season and should last until sometime in January. People that was in our cabins this weekend came in with lots of fish both trout and reds and some even came in with a few flounders. All the folks who just put in at the boat launch also came in with limits of speckled trout. The weather continues to be perfect for inland fishing as the winds are light early in the morning with good tide range and the clarity of the water is very clear. We are still using live shrimp under a popping cork as the shrimp have not left yet, so as long as we can continue to get live shrimp we will stay with what works. We started selling live shrimp here at the boat launch early this summer and it has taken off very well. Many people would rather fish with live shrimp then to throw plastic during the summer months. The cabins have been full on the weekends and that should continue as long as the weather holds up. Building memories on the water going on a fishing trip is something that will last forever weather with your family and friends or entertaining a client.
